Choose the lightest mode that fits
- Auto chooses Fast or Expert based on the task and is the best general default.
- Fast is for everyday tasks where a concise answer and low latency matter most.
- Expert is for complex questions that benefit from deeper analysis and stronger verification.
- Deep Search is research-grade intelligence for broad, iterative, multi-source investigation.
Write a research brief, not just a topic
A useful brief states the decision, scope, time range, geography, important definitions, and required output. For example: “Compare the public 2025 and 2026 pricing, security claims, and product limits of these five tools. Prefer primary sources, show material conflicts, and deliver a decision matrix as CSV.”
Tell LLMBase what would change your decision. This helps it spend research effort on evidence and contradictions rather than producing a generic overview.
How to read a research answer
- Check that important current claims link to real origin sources.
- Distinguish sourced facts from the model’s explicit inference or recommendation.
- Look for publication dates and the date an event actually happened.
- Treat disclosed conflicts, missing evidence, and truncation as useful limitations—not gaps to hide.
URLs, files, and deliverables
A request to explain or translate one URL normally needs one direct page read, not a research plan. A professional deliverable that depends on several phases—collect, compare, calculate, and create an artifact—may show a concise plan and continue safe steps automatically.
Attach internal documents when the answer must compare public research with your own material. Ask explicitly for an Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CSV, Markdown, or text Artifact when the result needs to leave the transcript as a reusable file.
Frequently asked questions
Does Fast answer current questions from memory?
No. Fast can reduce research breadth, but a fact that requires current information should still use live retrieval.
Is Deep Search guaranteed to find every source?
No research system can guarantee exhaustive coverage. Deep Search broadens and iterates the search, compares sources, and should disclose missing or conflicting evidence.
